Around lunchtime it was time to get on the road. My
step-brother and his son had to fly back home to Michigan. It was a nice-enough
drive, the roads were good and other than my making one slight variance from the
route (caused by my being blocked into the wrong lane when we got to a critical
point in the directions), we were able to get to the airport with a minimum of
bother – despite the fact that the interstate was under construction in a
couple places this weekend.
The trip home was not nearly as smooth.
A traffic accident that caused an hour’s delay and a couple
mysterious (and seemingly causeless) slow-downs meant that the trip home took
much longer than the trip to the airport. But I had by podcasts on the stereo,
and the beautiful views of the sunset, and of the storms passing to the south
of the area would have been something I would have missed if the trip had been
equally trouble-free both ways.
In all, it has been a lovely weekend this far, and other than having a couple client calls to take this afternoon, today is looking like it will be equally lovely! No news, no politics – I should really do this more often! It is good to be out of the battleground state for a while.
Wherever you are today I hope that there is more your
weekend than news and politics!
