The Traveler's Limbo at MSP

O-Dark-Thirty at MSP

There’s a unique state of suspension on a travel day, especially one that starts before the sun. I never sleep well the night before a flight, which is how I find myself at the airport at o-dark-thirty, long before the boarding call. Sitting here in the quiet of the United Club, the trip is effectively over. The family visits and planned events have concluded, packed away as fresh memories. All that remains is the journey itself, and there it sits, parked right outside my window.

My chariot awaits for the final leg home.

It has been a hectic vacation week: driving to the Black Hills, soggy photoshoots at the Badlands and Devil's Tower, driving back to Denver, flying to Minnesota and then driving to Alexandria, cards, dinners, and visiting relatives, a wet and windy drive back to the cities yesterday, and now... it is all over but the waiting.

Wherever you are today, I hope your own journey home is nearing a peaceful, satisfying, and welcome end.
