I think that the new look on your website fits you. You seem to be a bit on the artistic side and the new look is a bit more artistic. Keep up the great rants.

Dear Anonymous Reader,

Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog!

I have received a couple email responses to my blog yesterday and the response was split. One reader liked it, one reader didn't.

"Artistic?" That is not an adjective that usually gets applied to me. I can, I think, compose a pretty good photo; and I can put together a collage that I like. If other people like my photos as well, that's cool.

I am humbled that people seem to like my photography and my stories. And even more-so when a reader chooses to send a comment so I thank you for taking the time to send your feedback.

I like the new look, sorta, but what made you change the picture at the top? I thought that was a trademark or something.

Dear Anonymous Reader,

Thank you for your comments! I am glad you like the new look.

Actually, this is the fourth photo that has graced the banner of my blog in the six years I've been blogging. (That is unless you count the generic ones that came with the default layout that I used to originally create it!)

Nope. It was not a trademark or anything... I just like giving the blog a new look occasionally and this is what struck my fancy this month when I started looking at changing things up a bit.

I hope you will continue to read (and enjoy) my blog, stories, and photos. Please feel free to Follow Me either online or via email by using one of the links to the right.

And again, thank you for reading and commenting on my blog.

Hi - I'm the first Anonymous Reader, the one who commented about you being artistic, not the one who commented about the photo at the top of the page. I guess I tend to think of people who are interested in photograhy as being artistic. Maybe that is because some photographers doctor up their work in photoshop.

You take some interesting pictures. I liked your pictures of England and South Africa. If you aren't able to make it to Australia with your job, maybe you could go down there for a short vacation. I'm sure you would take some interesting pictures of Australia that your readers would enjoy. I was curious about something. Which country do you think is most conservative, South Africa, England, or Australia?

Dear Anonymous Reader,

(Or shall I say "Dear 'Original' Anonymous Reader,?")

Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog! I have been told by my friends for year that I am artistic (some people who don't even know about my photography call me artistic for my cooking, but that is another story…). Some of these friends are people I consider to actually be artists! (To be fair, a couple of them had to tell me they were artists, but then, that too is another story!)

Thank you for the kind assessment of my photographic prowess. I think I take a few good pictures myself. I have an old friend who is a professional photographer. Once I was bemoaning the fact that so few of my pictures were what I would consider "good." I will never forget his response.

He explained that the reason he went through so much film was that he expected that he would get one usable picture on every roll he shoots and perhaps one of then of those would be what he considered to be good! Putting aside the high standards that apply to photographers who do it for a living, if that is the ratio of film used to good pictures that a pro accepts, who am I to expect more?

I do expect that I will make it to Australia eventually. If not on business, I can buy my own ticket! Based on what I have seen of it in films and photos, I would think I could shoot a few good shots.

Interesting question… I cannot speak to the political winds in Australia. Of the two remaining countries, I would have to say that South Africa is far more conservative than England. The UK , for being a nanny state in so many things, seems (to me at least) to have a much more laissez-faire attitude toward things. South Africa is much more obviously stratified in its social structure and the expectation (as far as I could tell) of who you are and what you can do is derived from what strata of society you are in.

Perhaps this is just my limited experience, but that is how I saw thing.

Again, thanks for reading and commenting, Original Anonymous Reader!
