After a journey that spanned more than two full days, three continents, and countless frustrations, I finally checked into my hotel in Craiova. Waiting for me was the best message a weary traveler could hope to see: "Come to dinner!"
My colleagues were waiting at a nearby restaurant, and the walk there took me directly through the city's Christmas market. After being stuck in the sterile, stressful environment of airports for days, the sight of the festive lights and holiday cheer was almost magical. Despite the exhaustion and the painful fall from the night before, this was the perfect antidote to the chaos. The trip was already starting to look up.
Wherever you are today, I hope your long journey leads to a place filled with light and good company.
