After two days of travel chaos that felt like an eternity, I am finally, finally in Romania. The journey, however, managed to throw a few more punches before it was over.
Have I mentioned the pain I'm in? Last night, after being defeated at the Frankfurt airport, I discovered the escalator to the exit was broken. While schlepping my bags down the stairs and searching for a hotel, I missed a step and came down hard. So, on top of the stress and exhaustion, I've been dealing with a very painful injury.
To add insult to injury British Airways forced me to check my main bag, so I had to haul my briefcase through three airports today. After landing in Bucharest, the final test of patience was a nearly two-hour wait for that bag to appear. I was terrified my car service to Craiova would give up and leave, but thankfully, the driver waited. My driver must have called me half a dozen times during the wait!
Now, I am finally sitting in the back of that car. The lights of Bucharest are behind me, and I am on the very last leg of this unbelievable journey. I'm off to Craiova.

Wherever you are today, I hope your journey is less eventful, and that you arrive in one piece.
