| Flying over a snow-dusted Bavaria. From up here, you'd never guess the chaos waiting on the ground. |
After the absolute chaos of re-booking and re-routing in the US, I finally thought I was on the home stretch. The overnight flight was smooth, and I landed in Frankfurt with plenty of time to make my connection to Bucharest.
I walked up to the Lufthansa service desk simply to confirm my seat assignment, expecting a quick and routine check. Instead, I was informed with a bit of cold German efficiency that my ticket hadn't been bumped—it had been canceled entirely.
It turns out that the very helpful agent in Chicago, in her effort to get me across the Atlantic, had made one crucial mistake. She had left several conflicting bookings active in the system—through Munich, Frankfurt, Geneva, and Amsterdam. Lufthansa's computers, seeing that I could not possibly be on four planes at once, automatically canceled all of them.
So, here I am. Stranded in Frankfurt. I finally got a new booking secured for tomorrow, but for tonight, I am defeated. Time to find a hotel and a gin. Or two.

| Yet another travel plan and another canceled ticket. This route wasn't meant to be. |
Wherever you are today, I hope your path is straightforward, and your tickets are all confirmed.
