Rain

It seems that this vacation is bound to be water-based.

With the fog of the day I drove here, and the rain that has been varying from a mist to a constant pounding rain that came down at sunset yesterday, to the steady drizzle of the past ten hours, we have had water since yesterday morning.

The weathercast says that the rain will continue changing to snow by Friday. It's good for the state; Minnesota is way behind where they should be for annual precipitation. It is bad for the farmers, I suppose. There are crops standing in the fields that will be there until the fields dry out enough to harvest.

Besides, this is Minnesota. The thing to do in Minnesota this time of year is to drink coffee, play cards, and generally just stay indoors. I'm comfy, I'm warm, I'm with family... what more could I want?

Wherever you are today, I hope that you're safe, warm, and with those you love.

Tom Petty did a really good road trip song called "Running Down a Dream". In the song about his road trip he refers to the rain, just like you did. You might find it amusing to download the song for your return trip.

Dear Anonymous Reader,

Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog!

I know that song! I think I may have it on my iPod now. It is at least in the library on my PC, but then I have far more music that will fit on my iPod. Yeah, not that you mention it, it was sort of similar to the song.

I’ll have to look in my iPod and see if I can add that to one of the play lists I have set-up for my return trip!

Again, thanks for reading and commenting on my blog.

Running Down A Dream
by Tom Petty

It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I had the radio on, I was drivin’
The trees went by, me and del were singin’
Little runaway, I was flyin’

Yeah runnin’ down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads
I’m runnin’’ down a dream

I felt so good, like anything was possible
I hit cruise control and rubbed eyes
The last three days the rain was unstoppable
It was always cold, no sun shine

Yeah runnin’ down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads
I’m runnin’ down a dream

I rolled on as the sky grew dark
I put the pedal down to make some time
There’s something good waitin’ down this road
I’m pickin’ up whatever is mine

Yeah runnin’ down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads
I’m runnin’ down a dream

That's pretty good how you can come up with the lyrics of a song so quickly. You might be too young to know what Tom Petty was talking about when he said that he and Del were singing Little Runaway. In case you don't know, Del Shannon was the artist and the song was Little Runaway. That's was a good song too. It was very popular in the early 1960s I think.

Have a good road trip,

Dear Anonymous Reader,

Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog.

Yes, I am a bit too young to remember it when it was introduced, but it is a song that I have heard a number of times.

I had more-or-less assumed that this was the reference that he was making in the song, but thanks for the confirmation.

Again, thanks for reading and commenting on my blog!

Runaway
by Del Shannon
As I walk along, I wonder
A what went wrong whit our love
A love that was so strong

And as I still walk on
I think of the thing's we've done
Together, while our hearts were young

I'm a walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel a pain
A wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery

And I wonder, I wa wa wa wa wonder
Why a why why why why why
she ran away
And I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway
My run run run run runaway

I'm a walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel a pain
A wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery

And I wonder, I wa wa wa wa wonder
Why a why why why why why
she ran awayway
and I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway
A run run run run
runaway

And I wonder a where she will stay

My little runaway
a run run run run runaway
