A final, gentle sunrise over the San Juans as we prepared to leave Ouray.
|
All good trips must come to an end, and our four-day fall adventure was no exception. After a final sunrise over the San Juan Mountains, we left Ouray and began the last leg of our journey home. But we couldn't resist one more scenic detour: the Grand Mesa Scenic Byway. We climbed to the top of the world’s largest flat-topped mountain, where we were treated to some of the most spectacular aspen groves of the entire trip. After navigating a classic Colorado traffic jam, we took in the vast, dramatic views from the mesa's edge before beginning our descent. It was the perfect, colorful finale to a fantastic tour, from the planned route to the spontaneous bonus day.

Wherever you are today, may your journey home be as beautiful as the adventure itself.
