The first full day in Minnesota greeted us with a classic rainy, grey morning. The weather set a cozy tone for a day that turned out to be full of wonderful surprises and treasured traditions.

First, an unexpected lunch at Pike and Pint led to a happy reunion with cousins Shawn and Nancy; we hadn't anticipated seeing.

hen, in the evening, we headed out for a meal that is a non-negotiable requirement for any trip here. As I always say, no visit is truly complete without fried chicken at Chet's Lakeside Inn on the shores of Lake Irene. It was the perfect way to gather the family and kick things off before the main cousins' lunch.
