What is all this flack about a Saturday Night Live sketch!? It reminds me about how overbaord the good folks at the Faux News Channel go whenever Jon Stewart points-out their misinformation.

I have yet to watch last night's program, I time-shift almost all of my viewing now-a-days, but from what I have seen it seems no more offensive than anything else they ridicule. From the coverage, it would appear that the sketch was a parody of a truck commercial in which a father drops his daughter off to serve with a military unit - which turns-out to be ISIS. I am not sure what point SNL is trying to make with this sketch, but perhaps taken in context it will make more sense.

The point is, that this is satire. Unless the derision hits home (like perhaps you see your hypocracy in the way that ISIS is behaving) why do you care so much about a sketch on a late-nigth comedy show!? Who is more deserving of our ridicule than someone wantonly perverts the very religion they profess to be adhering to? To quote St. Matthew:

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense you make long prayers; therefore you will receive greater condemnation. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves."
Matthew 23:14-15

It is a truly a shame how willing we are to profess to a belief and then act in a way totally contrary to those stated beliefs... and that in and of itself is worthy of our derision!

Wherever you are today, I hope that you will take offense only where it is waranted.
