From Florida Palms to Pikes Peak

All good trips must come to an end. After a wonderful, whirlwind week in Florida for the UCF awards and a relaxing visit with family, it was time to head home. The journey required a painfully early start, but I wasn't prepared for the scene at Orlando International Airport.

The dark skylights became mirrors,
reflecting the massive security queues below.

Who would have thought MCO would be this busy? It wasn't even 4:30 AM, and the lines were already immense. In the pre-dawn darkness, the huge glass skylights over the main terminal turned into mirrors, reflecting the seemingly endless queues of travelers trying to get through security.

After navigating the crowds, it was finally time to fly.

A dark and rainy departure from Orlando.

We took off from a dark, rainy runway in Florida and, a few hours later, were greeted by the bright morning sun over the snow-capped mountains of home.

I had heard that we'd had a storm while I was gone,
the snow on Pikes Peak just confirmed it!

Wherever you are today, I hope your journey ends with a welcome and familiar sight.
