From Florida Palms to Pikes Peak

All good trips must come to an end. After a wonderful, whirlwind week in Florida for the UCF awards and a relaxing visit with family, it was time to head home. The journey required a painfully early start, but I wasn't prepared for the scene at Orlando International Airport.

After the whirlwind of the awards reception in Orlando, it was time to decompress a little before heading back home.

A Few Words (As Prepared)

 After the incredible emotions of the Alumknight awards reception, I spent some time reflecting on the evening. As I mentioned, my wonderful mentor Doc Morgan’s introduction was so heartfelt that it nearly brought me to tears—and he even used an anecdote I was planning to share! I had to rewrite my own remarks on the fly, but I wanted to post the words I had originally intended to say.

The awards reception was a night filled with warmth, pride, and a few happy tears. 

Actually Seeing It in Print

After the trip from Colorado, the night of the awards reception finally arrived. There's a special kind of excitement walking into an event like this, hosted at the beautiful Celeste Hotel in Orlando. But the moment it truly became real was when I held the official program.

...and We're Off to Florida

 After the surprise call from UCF and the scramble to get a new headshot, the time has finally come to travel. Today, I'm heading to Orlando for the AlumKnight awards reception. The journey starts with a familiar drive to the airport under a classic Colorado sky. It's always a little surreal to start a trip, leaving one place behind for a few days to celebrate in another. Next stop, Florida!

And the trip begins.
