Indian Summer

 -- Or --

We Ordered That Cold Snap To Let Mary Know She Had Been In Minnesota!

It was been lovely in Minnesota for about the last 36 hours, meaning - Mary missed the wonderful Indian Summer we are having here. To hear her tell it you have to be crazy to live anywhere north of Gainesville for more than six months of the year, and absolutely certifiable to live here for more than the middle three weeks of summer!

As proof of this, she points to the recently completed cold-snap which caused temperatures to dib all the way down into the high twenties at night (Ooh! Say it ain't so!) and not recover about 30 in the day time. (For my readers in parts of the world on other standards of measurement, that is a temperature range of approximately -7 to -1 Celsius or about 265 to 270 Kelvin.) Of course today, the high temperature here according to the thermometer hit a balmy 65 (about 18c or 291k) and we were all out in the yard doing yard work; pruning a few windfall limbs, watering the plants one last time before the snow flies, doing some general clearing of debris from the yard. Not too much, but enough to break a sweat in the heat of the afternoon.

But now she has left for Florida and the temperatures have returned to more temperate levels. If anyone runs across her, though, mum's the word! We don't want her thinking we ALWAYS have such nice weather -- She might take it into her head that it really isn't too bad north of Central Florida and THEN what would we do!?

Wherever you are today, I hope that you're having an excellent day and that the autumn is treating you well!
