When Road Trips Go Jurassic: Family Fun in Woodland Park

On our way down toward Manitou Springs, we decided a proper Colorado road trip wouldn't be complete without a detour into deep time.

Narrowly escaping a prehistoric ambush outside the center.

We stopped in Woodland Park to check out the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, which turned out to be an absolute hit for everyone in the crew.

Helen, Graham, Sarah, Paxton, and Eric photobombed by a dinosaur.

Paxton getting an up-close look at razor-sharp fossil teeth.

Between life-sized outdoor predators eager for a photo op, towering fossil skeletons, and plenty of dramatic poses, we managed to make it through the museum without actually becoming prehistoric lunch.

Paxton keeping a safe distance from a charging T-Rex display.

A fun time was had by all, even us old guys!

Tim and Don touring the museum beneath giant fossil mounts.

A dramatic face-to-face encounter with the king of dinosaurs.

Wherever your travels take you today, may you always find time for a fun, oversized detour along the road.
