An Unsolicited Opinion From The AI

For reasons I can't begin to fathom, my phone's AI offered an unsolicited suggestion today. It decided to take a photo of a cherished old plaque—one given to my mom years ago by St. Kevin's Catholic Church in Miami—and "improve" it.

The original plaque, full of handmade charm,
and the unsolicited 3D remake offered by the AI.

The result is... something.

The AI's version: technically smooth,
but emotionally sterile and featuring nonsensical text.

On one hand, it's a technically slick, 3D-rendered version. On the other, it's a perfect example of technology completely missing the point. The AI smoothed away every bit of the original's quirky, handmade charm and replaced its endearing expression with a generic, cartoonish one. Most tellingly, it couldn't read the text, turning "St. Kevin's Festival Queen" into utter gibberish.

A closer look at the original.
The personality is in the charming imperfections.

I have to say, I'm not impressed. This feels like a solution in search of a problem. The original, with its personality and history intact, is infinitely better than the sterile remake.

Wherever your road takes you today, I hope that you find something surprising!
