Testing the New Glass

The first test shot: a wider view of the
Denver skyline around 200mm.

There's a special kind of excitement that comes with getting a new piece of "glass." I've just added the Nikkor Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR lens to my kit for the Z5, and I couldn't wait to take it out for a quick test run.

Zooming all the way in to 400mm.
The compression really brings the city to you.

A superzoom like this is all about versatility, and I wanted to see what it could do. The Denver skyline was the perfect first subject. I took a wide shot to capture the whole scene and then immediately zoomed all the way to 400mm to see how it compressed the scene and pulled in the distant details. I even managed to catch a bird in flight against the blue sky.

A quick shot to test how it handles a moving subject.
Not bad at all.

These are just the first few test shots, but I'm already excited about the possibilities this lens will open up.

Wherever you are today, I hope you find a new perspective on a familiar view.
