One of the simple joys of being home is watching the steady stream of visitors to our backyard bird feeders. We make an effort to keep them stocked with a good variety of seeds, nuts, and suet, and our feathered neighbors seem to appreciate the buffet.
It pays off with moments like this, when a truly striking bird like this Northern Flicker drops by for a meal. It's like having a front-row seat to a miniature nature documentary, right outside the window.![]() |
| This handsome Northern (Common) Flicker stopped by for a suet lunch this afternoon. |
Wherever you are today, may you find a little pocket of wilderness right where you are.
