First off, let's make one thing clear: Regardless of what the political right and the media would have you believe, there is no serious danger of an Ebola epidemic in the United States! So, why does the media and the political right keep harping on it?
It's just more scare mongering from the media and the right. I love the comparison that I heard this week on one of the podcasts I listen to: "America is in the midst of an irrational panic attack about the Ebola virus. It's 24/7 on cable news even though two times more people in this country have been married to Larry King than have come down with Ebola."
We're making mountains out of anthills here!
If you want to be afraid of something - be afraid that you might live in a state where your government refuses to allow you to have healthcare through the federal healthcare program! More people die each year in any single state from the flu than have died of Ebola contracted in the US. So, why is it that the Right is making political hay on this issue?
It's because of the "sensationalism" that has replaced "journalism" in what we call "news" here in the states. If a story is not something that the newsreader can claim is causing you an imminent threat, then it is not - apparently - worth covering!
Are we really that gullible, people!? Really!?
Wherever you are today, I hope that you will have a good (and gullibility-free) day!
